Full Biography

Fashion model-turned-actress, Sonal Chauhan hit bull’s eye with her first film in Bollywood. Winner of several beauty awards, Sonal has to still bring her acting career on track. This pretty lass gave a noticeable performance in her first film and is waiting for more films to fall in her kitty.

Sonal was born on May 16, 1987, in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India. Her family hailed from famous Royal Chauhan Rajput of Mainpuri district. Her father is a police inspector, and she has one elder brother and two sisters. She studied at DPS, Noida after which she did her honors in Philosophy at Gargi College in New Delhi.

She was crowned as the Miss World Tourism 2005 at Malaysia. She is the first Indian to have claimed Miss World Tourism title. Sonal became a popular face in Delhi after she appeared in number of advertisement campaigns in print and electronic media.

She has also been the face of brands like Ponds and Nokia. Apart from this she has appeared on the cover page

of FHM and The Man magazine. She has worked as a model in of various ramp shows and on print campaigns for brands like LG, Reliance CDMA, Hero Honda Passion, Nokia, Hindustan Times, Delhi Times, and many more. Recently, she walked the ramp as show stopper for jewelry brand YS18 at the India International Jewelry Week 2011.

Before her film debut, she has already appeared on screen in Himesh Reshammiya's album Aap Kaa Surroor. After this, Kunal Deshmukh, director of Jannat, saw her at a restaurant in Mumbai and asked for her contact number. Sonal couldn’t believe that in a week she was on the floors shooting. She played the character of Zoya in the movie, a strong support system for Emraan Hashmi, her boyfriend in the movie.

Soon after Jannat was released, V N Aditya called her after seeing her portfolio through her agent. Impressed by her, he signed her for Telugu movie Rainbow opposite Rahul. She is also acting in a Kannada movie Cheluveye Ninna Nodalu with Shivrajkumar, which is shot in 7 wonders of the world.

She last appeared, after more than two years of break, in Amitabh Bachchan starrer, Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap.

Sonal’s career is too short, so far, to pass a verdict or judgment on it. She still has to work her way up the ladder and gain consecutive successes to survive in the industry.
