Ram Gopal Verma, one of the most controversial directors of Indian cinema has proved with Not A Love Story that he is a cinematic genius. One may call it the weird themes or vague story ideas he perceives, RGV truly stands out. This time the director presented the horrific and shocking murder in the best possible way.

In 2008, the country witnessed one of the most dreadful news, a man was killed, his body chopped into many pieces and was burnt in the suburbs of Mumbai. The incident was do shocking that cannot be forgotten easily. It tempts the viewer to think of what could have gone into the mind of the killers.

RGV has taken the story idea from the real life incident, the differences cannot be overlooked either. The main lead of the film does not belong to South films, and her fiancee is not a Navy Lieutenant. The film is a result of imagination and does not report what actually happened. It tries to recreate the course of events which changes the lives of these three people. the filmmaker remains unbiased while presenting Not A Love Story.

3 years ago a wannabe actress [Mahie Gill] comes Mumbai to make in big in Bollywood. While giving auditions for the films she meets [Ajay Gehi] who helps her in getting a film. One fateful morning her boyfriend [Deepak Dobriyal] lands up when she was with that man in her

apartment. The series of events that happens next tells a dreadful story.

To be more realistic RGV shot the film at the same building where the murder took place. The scenes of the murder and the later events will bring a chill in your spines.
The second half also will make you to hook up to your seat as the investigations is captivating as well.

The screenplay by Rohit G. Banawlikar is intriguing and RGV's execution is outstanding.
As far as film technicalities are also concerned, the stands out there as well. It seems that cameraman has captured the movements with handheld camera, the superb sound design are up to the mark. The shaky camera angles gives a feel a tensed situations. Sandeep Chowta’s background score is the show stealer of the film. The song 'Rangeela Re' from RGV's RANGEELA, suites the narrative but sometimes the ring tone gets on your nerves.

Mahie Gill and Deepak Dobriyal have given the top notch performances. Mahie is excellent in depicting various emotions. Deepak has done a commendable work when it comes to play a psychotic possessive boyfriend. Ajay Gehi is acts well in his minuscule role. Zakir Hussain does an admirable job of playing a role of police officer.

In a nutshell, NOT A LOVE STORY will shock and thrill you. It is indeed Ram Gopal Verma’s best works. Cheers to the director who deserves a standing ovation for this film. A Must Watch.
