When you think about Vishesh Film`s Murder, mush melodies like Bheege honth tere and Dil ko hazaar bar, instantly knock on one’s mind but unfortunately the sequel of the film doesn’t bring to the table any such numbers that create a lasting impression.

Romance flaps its wings with the first song of the album, Hale dil, but somehow the tracks fails to pull at the listeners’ heartstrings because it has nothing new to offer. A very simple, ordinary composition by Harshit Saxena. The song has also been crooned by him. The acoustic version of the song is still better owing to the slight soft rock touch that it possesses.

After a light romantic song, is the turn of the sensuous Aa zara, composed by Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur, The composers have brought in Sunidhi Chauhan to sing the track, who is known for her ability to render such songs with ease and brilliance. As expected from the singer, Sunidhi delivers the best in the song. The remixed version seems unnecessary and offers nothing extraordinary.

Now Mithoon comes in the forefront with Aye khuda and sticking to his image, he churns out a

Sufi track, singing it along with Kshitij Tarey and Salim Bhat. This is the best track of the album that actually doesn’t have a lot to offer. Less music, infectious rhythm and powerful singing would be an apt description of this track that also has a remixed version.

Mithoon is also the creator of Phir mohabbat, a slow track with a likeable melody with singers such as Mohammed Irfan, Arijit and Saim Bhat. However, over and above the melody, the song doesn’t boast of anything extra. The lyrics are average and the musical arrangement is minimal.

Finally the last song of the album is a composition by Sangeet and Siddharth, which has been christened Tujhko bhoolna. Rishni Baptist and Sangeet have tried to lift the song through their vocals, but the composition is weak. It is characterized by techno beats, yet the song is moderately paced. On the whole, the song with a clubbish feel is quite disappointing.

In the end, all that can be said is that the songs of Murder 2 are way below expectations and not at all impressive. It seems Anu Malik is going to have the last laugh!
