Full Review

In a time and age when music plays a very important role in promoting and creating interest for a film, Ajay Devgn starrer and Rohit Shetty directed Singham is not such a music lover’s delight with just three originals and three simple remixes. Although the music has can be composed by National Award winning duo Ajay-Atul, the songs are decent, but not superlative.

The music album begins with the title track of the film, which sounds like an extension of the title tracks of films like Omkara and Dabangg. The feel, mood and overall presentation of the composition is quite similar, so much so that even the singer of all three songs is also the same – Sukhwinder Singh. It starts with the chants of mantras and is moderately paced. This is a song suited more for visual appeal than audio.

It has a remix version too.

The next two tracks are

love songs, perfect for people in love.

First is Saathiya that been crooned by Shreya Ghoshal in her honey-tucked voice. For this song, Ajay Gogavale gives her ample support with backing vocals. Saathiya is a number that might not pull at your heartstrings in the beginning, but it grows on the listener. A sweet simple, mush melody, worth a listen.

Then there is Maula Maula that brings forward an alluring collaboration of singers Kunal Ganjawala and Richa Sharma, who gave the song an edge with their effective vocals. The composition is simple with Sufi influences and is hummable. This love ballad has the potential to be liked by listeners.

The two abovementioned tracks have remixes too.

On the whole, although the music album doesn’t have much to offer in terms of quantity and diversity of songs, the two romantic numbers can be branded decent and might get a good response for the album.
