It seems like Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has started his new year with strong competition ahead for the Khans and emerged winner at the box office. His film ‘Agneepath, which released on Republic Day, has managed to rake in Rs 25 crores at the box office on the opening day.
According to sources, “It is safe to conclude that Agneepath has succeeded in beating Bodyguard’s first- day collections, which had been unbeaten since it released. Media professional and industry observer Abhijit Mhamunkar says, “The opening day collection of Agneepath is Rs 25 crores as compared to Bodyguard’s Rs. 21 crores. Agneepath has
set a new record.”
While trade pundits had predicted that the film would enjoy terrific first day collections, they did not expect the film to break records. One of the main reasons for this was the length of the film. Salman Khan’s Bodyguard had opened in 2,800 screens across India and the first day occupancy ranged between 85 per cent and 100 per cent. Shahrukh Khan’s RA.one opened in around 3200 screens with the first day occupancy ranging between 75 per cent and 80 per cent. Agneepath opened with 2,700 prints with 96- 100 per cent occupancy.
